A wonderful package arrived in the mail today full of Marimekko remnants. I love myself some Marimekko!! They are all different sizes and the colors are amazing. I really like the spots of color with the white walls.
I am thinking of making pillows, placemats and maybe updating a chair with some of these. I recently purchased Martha Stewart’s Encyclopedia of Sewing and Fabric Crafts, and I’m gonna put it to use!

How sick is this phone?!? I spotted this via sfgirlbybay this morning. I love all things retro. AND it comes in ORANGE!! It would definitely fit in with my mid-century modern home. You can get it from Twine.
So I got this beauty at Roger’s Gardens last weekend when we were in California. It’s called Ophiopogon planiscapus ‘nigrescens’ or more commonly Black Mondo Grass. It really is black. The leaves are green at the bases and turn very dark as they grow. The color black isn’t common for plants, or so I hear. I bought two, noting that they should survive in Arizona (zone 9). Learning to garden here is a trip, since the desert climate presents all kinds of challenges. I’m thinking of putting them into a galvanized steel pot with some brightly colored flowers.
**Update** I killed this plant. I neglected to water it for a couple days. I’m going to get some more and try again. I’m still grieving.
